About me
Hi! I’m Jesstern Rays, a technology trainer, professional developer and webmaster at Catholic High School in Singapore. I teach secondary one and two students between the ages of 12 and 15, equivalent to grades 7 and 8 in the US. My goal is to prepare both students and teachers for the challenges that lie ahead of them in this age of information and technology.

I had the privilege of attending the Google Teachers Academy held in London and became the first Google Certified Teacher in Singapore. It was this exposure that has allowed me to connect with hundreds of educators worldwide on Twitter and Google+. I am also an Oracle Education Foundation ThinkQuest Coach, a Microsoft Office Specialist and a Glogster EDU Ambassador.

My philosopy
Information Technology or IT, as is commonly misunderstood, is not about computers. It’s about information and the technologies we use to consume and share information. And because we also create information, in the form of blogs, podcasts, animation and social networking, we’ve added communication to IT and called it Information Communication Technology (ICT). So in ICT we learn how to consume, share and create information. Realise then that with this definition of IT, reading a paperback is IT. Whether we read the printed word on paper, on a desktop monitor or on an iPad it is merely a choice of technology, but the goal is still the same – consumption of information.
